Amid the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic since late April 2021, Vietnam recorded a growing number of community cases across 26 provinces, cities, and hospitals. In response, the Vietnam Young Physicians Association requested that the Ministry of Health accept a donation of 10,000 SARS-CoV-2 test kits from Ampharco U.S.A Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, the Marketing Authorization Holder and registration owner of the Amphabio COVID-19 test kit, to strengthen national testing capacity for pandemic control.
On May 12, 2021, at the Ministry of Health, Prof. Tran Van Thuan, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health, formally received the 10,000 SARS-CoV-2 test kits donated by Ampharco U.S.A
Mr. Le Ngoc Bo, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ampharco U.S.A, stated: The “AmphaBio HT – High-Throughput PCR COVID-19” kit is a product researched, developed, and manufactured by Ampharco U.S.A, applying advanced technology from the United States. The kit is capable of detecting most known variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to date. It was officially licensed for circulation under Decision No. 2263/QĐ-BYT dated May 7, 2021 by the Ministry of Health. During research and production, the kit underwent clinical validation on over 2,000 patient samples, representing the result of more than one year of continuous effort by Ampharco’s team of scientists and partners. This contribution was made in alignment with the Government’s policy of “fighting the pandemic as if fighting an enemy,” supporting Vietnam’s national COVID-19 response.
Prof. Tran Van Thuan, Ph.D. – Deputy Minister of Health
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Prof. Tran Van Thuan, Ph. D.- Deputy Minister of Health, praised the product as a meaningful “Made in Vietnam” innovation and emphasized: “At a time when COVID-19 continues to impact every aspect of society, Ampharco U.S.A’s contribution alongside the health sector is highly significant, demonstrating corporate social responsibility and unity in the fight against the pandemic. With the dedication of Vietnam’s medical professionals, scientists, enterprises, and the solidarity of the people, Vietnam will defeat COVID-19.”
Following the Prime Minister’s directive, since March 2020 the Ministry of Health has established the Committee for Mobilization and Coordination of COVID-19 Support Resources (Decision No. 1219/QĐ-BYT, dated March 19, 2020). The Ministry has officially accepted Ampharco’s donation of 10,000 test kits. However, to ensure proper storage conditions, the Ministry requested Ampharco U.S.A to keep the kits at its warehouse facilities. Based on epidemic developments and the proposals of relevant agencies, the Ministry of Health will allocate the test kits to healthcare facilities nationwide, with Ampharco providing logistics and timely delivery.
